At Smart Workforce Solutions (SWS) we value our staff. We value where they come from and what led them to become a part of the SWS story. Nicole Steyn, an ardent South African Copy Writer, recruited through SWS and now employed, as full-time Copy Writer by an Australian property investment company, tells her story:

“My professional career started at university, where I had decided I would pursue a career as a Psychologist. The first challenge arose in my third year at university where I was faced with almost impossible criteria to get into the honours program. Following my graduation, I was forced to make a decision – try again next year or move on to an alternative path. I spent three months job hunting and completing other online courses in different disciplines to broaden my skill set.

I was eventually offered a job as a copywriter in a small marketing agency where I worked for almost three years, before the wheels started to fall off. I opted to leave before the ship sank in favour of freelancing and starting my own businesses. At this point, I needed two income streams to cover my bills and created two very different businesses.

Freelancing proved to be too unstable for my needs and I spent many hours searching for jobs that would not only require my skills, but accept my application. I was fortunate enough to work with many overseas companies while freelancing and was eventually offered a full time position with a US-based company. However, it was still always uncertain whether or not my contract would be renewed.

The day came when the contract was not renewed and I was forced to search once again for work locally. After numerous applications, interviews and rejections I was led to a job ad by SWS to work remotely for Australian-based company, Integrity Property Investment. Within a few weeks my application was accepted and the interview process was successful.

Working alongside Australians has been nothing but a pleasure, as they have been extremely helpful and welcoming. Having worked with a variety of individuals from across the world, Australians have definitely been the easiest to get along with as we have very similar work attitudes.

In addition, the work hours are comfortable and the pay is much better than what I would make in a similar role locally. I feel more confident in my job security now than I ever did working for South African-based or US-based companies.” – Nicole Steyn
